AI guide Choosing a model

Choose an AI provider for the items you sell.

Start with a model that handles your usual items well at a cost you can live with. Try a few of your own products before deciding which one to use regularly.

Compare Draft quality, cost, and time Updated September 23, 2026

Start here

Try an inexpensive model first. Compare a second result when something looks off.

Check what the first draft gets right and wrong. If you are unsure about the item’s identity or details, run the same photos through another model and compare before listing.

01

Available providers

Twelve companies are available in the app.

You can add API keys for OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Moonshot, Meta, Alibaba, Z.ai, DeepSeek, Mistral, xAI, MiniMax, and Xiaomi. Each company has its own models, settings, and billing rules for API use.

Company and model are different choices.

For example, Google is a provider and Gemini is one of its model families. The model and reasoning setting you select can affect the draft, time, and cost.

02

Compare results

Compare settings on the same five items.

Our Draft Builder model trial shows the score, estimated AI cost, and average time for each setting, along with scores for the individual items. It gives you a useful starting point, though five items cannot predict which model will do best with everything you sell.

A high overall score can hide a weak result on a particular kind of item. Check the individual item scores as well as the averages, especially if one of the test items resembles your inventory.

03

Try your items

Try a few items from your own inventory.

  1. Start with a model whose cost and speed suit routine listings.

Give it clear photos and a few items that represent what you sell most often.

  2. Check the fields that matter.

Look closely at item identity, category, size, condition, included parts, and claims the photos cannot prove.

  3. Compare another model when a result is uncertain.

Use the same photos. If the second draft is better, decide whether that extra cost is worthwhile for similar items.

04

Get an API key

Set up the company you want to try.

Open the How-Tos guide directory and choose your provider’s API key guide. It walks through the company’s account and billing setup, where to create a key, and how to add it in Lakeview Lister.

Keep the key private. Once it is in your app profile, test the connection before running a batch.

05

Review each draft

Check the listing before it reaches eBay.

  • Confirm the identification, title, category, condition, and item specifics against the item in front of you.
  • Verify measurements, included parts, and any claim about testing or functionality.
  • Research sold listings before setting a price. An AI estimate cannot establish the current market value by itself.
