Before you start

Check what you need.

  • An account with Mistral’s developer API service.
  • Permission to create API keys and manage API usage for that account or workspace.
  • Lakeview Lister installed so you can enter and test the key.
01

Developer account

Open the Mistral API console.

  1. Open Mistral Studio

Go to Mistral Studio ↗ and sign in or create an account.

  2. Choose a workspace

Use the workspace that should own Lakeview Lister’s API key and usage. Workspace settings control its keys.

02

Prepare API usage

Check your allowance and billing.

  1. Check your included usage

Mistral’s Free mode can issue API keys and includes limited monthly usage. Review the current allowance and limits before running a batch.

  2. Enable pay-as-you-go for paid usage

In the Admin Panel → Subscription ↗, turn on Pay-as-you-go. This switch is separate from buying credits or adding a payment method under Billing.

  3. Check Billing too

Confirm that the account has the credits or payment method needed for the API usage you expect. A payment error can indicate that a payment method is missing.

Buying credits does not turn on pay-as-you-go.

If you intend to use paid API capacity, check both Admin Panel → Subscription and Billing. Pay-as-you-go starts off by default; a credit balance alone does not switch it on.

03

Generate the credential

Create and copy the API key.

  1. Open API Keys

In Studio, go to Workspace Settings → API Keys ↗.

  2. Create a new key

Select Create new key. Give it a name such as Lakeview Lister so you can find and revoke it later.

  3. Copy the secret now

Mistral shows the complete key when you create it. Copy it before closing the dialog.

Keep the key private.

If it is exposed, revoke it in the provider console and create a replacement. Do not send it to support.

04

Return to Lakeview Lister

Add and test the key.

  1. Open Profile

In Lakeview Lister, open Tools → Profile → AI Providers.

  2. Add the provider

Select Add provider, choose Mistral, and expand its card under Your providers.

  3. Enter Mistral API Key

Paste the complete API key into this field without spaces or quotation marks.

  4. Test and save

Select Test Key, then Save Profile. Choose the provider as your default if you want future runs to start with it.

If a request fails

Check the account and key.

A key exists but paid calls fail.

Check the separate pay-as-you-go switch in Admin Panel → Subscription, then check Billing for credits, a payment method, and usage limits.

You receive a payment-required error.

Mistral’s API guide associates HTTP 402 with a missing payment method. Review Billing for the workspace or organization.

The app rejects the key.

Create a fresh Studio workspace API key, paste it without extra spaces, and check that it has access to the models you want to use.
